Art is no longer exclusively created by humans. Artwork can be produced by non-human actors such as machine (AI) or animals. We created a work called Egul Pollock, which can create works of art through collaboration with microorganisms, Euglena as non-human actors. Microorganisms exist around this world and are closely related to us, but they are hard to see with our naked eye. Since we cannot properly recognize their existence, therefore, communication is also difficult. To overcomes these limitations, Egul Pollock delivers the interaction made by human via light signals to Euglena, and allows them to respond in real time. Through this kind of repeated processes, the system creates a collaborative painting on the projected screen. Image created as the result appears differently on the interaction between the user and Euglena. Through this, our system provides the experience of collaboration between inter-species. 

본 작업에서는 유글레나의 움직임을 관찰, 빛을 통해 상호작용함으로써 인간이 보는 세계를 새로운 방식으로 재현한다.

이를 통해 인간으로 하여금 철학적인 고찰을 가능케 하는데 ‘눈으로만 직접 보고 판단해왔던 세계’를 바이오이미징을 통해 새롭게 이해함으로써

인간 중심적 시각과 사고에서 벗어나 우리를 둘러싼 환경을 유기적이고 생태계 적인 관점으로 바라보며 수평적 세계관으로 까지 확장하는 계기를 제공한다. 그러므로 이 인터렉션 작업은 단지, 예술과 기술의 융합으로 탄생한 결과물 이상으로 비인간 행위자와 인간의 협업을 통해 사유 지점을 남긴다.
